Housing First

The Salvation Army and our partners are working with the City of Ottawa on ending long-standing homelessness through the Housing First Strategy, known as Housing First.

The goal of Housing First is to secure safe housing for people before helping them with any other problems or concerns they may have.

The Salvation Army employs a Housing Response Team which works to connect people living in shelters or on the street to permanent, affordable housing. Once housed we work with people to create an individualized plan to maintain housing stability. We support individuals for up to a year or more once they are housed.
